P5 blev leveret med enten 1,5 liters V4, 1,7 liters V4 eller 2,0 liters V6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Opbygningen af Taunus P5 er meget lig b\u00e5de P2 og P3 med McPherson forhjulsoph\u00e6ng.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Baghjulsoph\u00e6nget er med stiv bagaksel, halvelliptiske, flerlags bladfjedre og teleskopst\u00f8dd\u00e6mpere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kardanakslen er nu delt op i to, hvilket giver en mere j\u00e6vn kraftoverf\u00f8rsel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Styrehuset er af den nye type kaldet kuglekredsl\u00f8b. Denne opbygning giver en langt mere pr\u00e6cis styring af bilen, end den tidligere, nu for\u00e6ldede og i sammenligning primitive snekkestyring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">P5 var i basis-modellerne med 3- eller 4-trins gearkasse med ratmonteret gearv\u00e6lger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I hardtop- og TS-modellerne kunne man dog kun f\u00e5 4-trins gearkasse med centerplaceret gearv\u00e6lger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fra maj 1966 kunne P5 leveres med en 4-trins automatgearkasse som Ford kaldte TAUNOMATIC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I begyndelsen af 1967 blev Taunus P5 udstyret med 12V el-anl\u00e6g ( j\u00e6vnstr\u00f8m ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ford Taunus P5 blev produceret fra september 1964 til april 1967 som 17M, 20M og 20M TS fordelt over ca. 630.000 styk 17M og 215.000 styk 20M som 2-, 4- og 5-d\u00f8rs modeller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Herudover produceredes i perioden 1965 &#8211; 1966 i Genk 14.000 styk coup\u00e9-modeller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ford valgte at kalde sine coup\u00e9-modeller
